Active substance: xylometazoline hydrochloride - 0.500 mg or 1.00 mg. Pharmacodynamics:

Xylometazoline belongs to the group of local vasoconstrictors (decongestants) with alpha-adrenomimetic activity, causes narrowing of the blood vessels of the nasal mucosa, thus eliminating edema and hyperemia of the nasal mucosa, restoring the nasal passages, facilitates nasal breathing.

The effect of the drug comes in a few minutes after its application and lasts up to 10 hours.

Pharmacokinetics:

With topical application, the drug is practically not absorbed, therefore its concentration in the blood plasma is very small (it is not determined by modern analytical methods).

Indications:

Applied in acute respiratory diseases with the phenomena of rhinitis (rhinitis), acute allergic rhinitis, sinusitis, with average otitis (as part of a combination therapy to reduce edema of the nasopharyngeal mucosa), to facilitate the conduct of a rhinoscopy.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to xylometazoline, arterial hypertension, tachycardia, severe atherosclerosis, glaucoma, atrophic rhinitis, hyperthyroidism,surgical interventions on the meninges (in the anamnesis), pregnancy, children's age (up to 6 years - for 0.1% solution and for 0.05% solution - up to 2 years).

Do not use with MAO and tricyclic antidepressants.

Carefully:

With caution appoint the drug to patients with diabetes mellitus, angina pectoris III-IV functional class, prostatic hyperplasia.

Do not apply the drug without interruption for more than 3-5 days.

Pregnancy and lactation:With caution apply the drug during lactation.

Dosing and Administration:

Adults and children over 6 years of age are administered 2-3 drops of 0.1% xylometazoline solution in each nasal passage 3-4 times a day.

Children from 2 to 6 years used a 0.05% solution of xylometazoline 1-2 drops in each nasal passage 1-2 times a day. Do not use more than 3 times a day.

The cap is unscrewed, removed, and a little pressing on the body of the vial, the solution is buried in the nose. Do not use the drug for a long time, for example, with chronic rhinitis.

Side effects:

With frequent and / or prolonged use - irritation and / or dryness of the nasopharyngeal mucosa, burning, tingling, sneezing, "hypersecretion; rarely - swelling of the nasal mucosa, vomiting, headache, palpitations, increased arterial pressure, insomnia, visual impairment, depression (with prolonged use of high doses).

Overdose:

Symptoms: decreased body temperature, bradycardia, increased blood pressure.

Treatment: symptomatic.

Interaction:

Interaction with other medicinal products

It is possible to enhance the systemic effect while using MAO inhibitors and tricyclic antidepressants.

Effect on the ability to drive transp. cf. and fur:Xylometazoline in dosages exceeding the recommended dosage may affect the ability to drive a vehicle or equipment.

Nasal drops 0.05%, 0.1%.

To 10, 15, 25 ml in a plastic bottle sealed with a plastic dropper-stopper and closed on top by a screwed plastic cover with the control of the first opening. Each bottle, along with instructions for medical use, is put in a cardboard box.
