    Composition:

    Composition per 100 ml:

    active substance: chloramphenicol - 0.25 g;

    Excipients: boric acid, purified water.

    Description:Transparent liquid with a slightly yellowish tinge
    Pharmacotherapeutic group:Antibiotic
    ATX: & nbsp

    D.06.A.X.02   Chloramphenicol

    S.01.A.A.01   Chloramphenicol

    J.01.B.A.01   Chloramphenicol

    Pharmacodynamics:

    Bacteriostatic antibiotic of a wide spectrum of action. Violates the process of protein synthesis in a microbial cell (having fat solubility, penetrates through the bacterial cell membrane and reversibly binds to the subunit 50S bacterial ribosomes, in which the movement of amino acids to growing peptide chains is delayed, which leads to a violation of protein synthesis).

    It is active against the following microorganisms: Escherichia coli, Shigella dysenteriae, Shigella flexneri Shigella boydii, Shigella sonnei, Salmonella spp. (incl. Salmonella typhi, Salmonella paratyphi), Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp. (incl. Streptococcus pneumoniae), Neisseria meningitidis, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, a number of strains Proteus spp., Burkholderia pseudomallei, Rickettsia spp., Treponema spp., Leptospira spp., Chlamydia spp. (incl. Chlamydia trachomatis), Coxiella burnetii, Ehrlichia canis, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae. He acts on acid-fast bacteria (incl. Mycobacterium tuberculosis), anaerobes, Acinetobacter spp., Serratia marcescens, indol-positive strains Proteus spp., Pseudomonas aeruginosa, protozoa and fungi.

    Pharmacokinetics:

    When the drug is instillated into a conjunctival sac, therapeutic concentrations are created in the aqueous humor of the eye, the cornea, the iris, the vitreous humor; partially enters the systemic circulation. The drug does not penetrate into the lens. It is excreted by the kidneys and intestines.

    Indications:

    Bacterial eye infections caused by sensitive microflora:

    - conjunctivitis;

    - blepharitis, blepharoconjunctivitis;

    - keratitis;

    - keratoconjunctivitis;

    - Neuroparalytic keratitis in the presence of secondary bacterial infection.

    Contraindications:

    - Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug;

    - oppression of bone marrow hematopoiesis;

    - acute intermittent porphyria;

    - deficiency of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase;

    - hepatic and / or renal insufficiency;

    - Pregnancy;

    - lactation period;

    - Newborn period (up to 4 weeks).

    Carefully:

    Skin diseases (psoriasis, eczema, fungal lesions), early childhood, in patients who received previous treatment with cytostatic drugs or radiation therapy.

    Dosing and Administration:

    Locally, adults and children 1 -2 drops in the lower conjunctival sac every 4-6 hours (ie 4-6 times a day).

    The usual duration of the course of treatment is 7 days. According to the decision of the ophthalmologist, the treatment can last up to 3 weeks.

    Side effects:

    Local allergic reactions, conjunctival hyperemia.

    With long-term use: reticulocytopenia, leukopenia, granulocytopenia, thrombocytopenia, erythrocytopenia; rarely - aplastic anemia, agranulocytosis.

    Overdose:

    Data on drug overdose are absent.

    Interaction:

    Simultaneous appointment with drugs that oppress hemopoiesis (sulfanilamides, cytostatics) affecting metabolism in the liver; with radiotherapy increases the risk of side effects.

    With simultaneous use with erythromycin, clindamycin, lincomycin, there is a mutual weakening of the effect due to the fact that chloramphenicol may interfere with their binding to the subunit 50S bacterial ribosomes.

    Reduces the antibacterial effect of penicillins and cephalosporins.

    Special instructions:

    There is some information on the development of bone marrow hypoplasia after the application of ophthalmic forms (inthe systematic control of the peripheral blood pattern is necessary).
