  • Dosage form: & nbspGel for external use

    M.01.A.E.01   Ibuprofen

    Pharmacodynamics:
The drug belongs to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Has a double action: analgesic and anti-inflammatory. Ibuprofen, being a derivative of propionic acid, indiscriminately blocks COX-1 and COX-2, which inhibits the synthesis of prostaglandins - mediators of pain, inflammation and hyperthermia. When applied to the skin, the gel has an additional cooling effect due to rapid evaporation of the benzyl alcohol contained in the alcohol composition.

After application on the skin ibuprofen is found in the epidermis and dermis after 24 hours. In deeper tissues, about 5% of ibuprofen is absorbed. Multiple application of the drug is sufficient to achieve a therapeutic concentration of ibuprofen in the underlying tissues, clinically significant systemic absorption hardly occurs.
