    Pharmacodynamics:Antiseptic, depending on the concentration used, shows bacteriostatic or bactericidal action against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. Bacteriostatic action (like waterand alcoholic working solutions) is manifested in a concentration of 0.01% or less; bactericidal - at a concentration of more than 0.01% at a temperature of 22 ° C and exposure for 1 min. Fungicidal action - at a concentration of 0.05%, temperature 22 ° C and exposure for 10 min.

    Does not affect disputes.

    Effective against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria (incl. Treponema spp., Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Chlamydia spp.); lipophilic viruses and fungi. Stable, after treatment of the skin (hands, operating field) is stored on it in a certain amount, sufficient for the manifestation of bactericidal effect. Keeps activity (although somewhat reduced) in the presence of blood, pus, various secrets and organic substances.

    It rarely causes allergic reactions, skin and tissue irritation, does not have a damaging effect on objects made of glass, plastics and metals.
    Pharmacokinetics:

    Has low systemic absorption when applied to intact skin, mucous membranes and serous membranes (less than 1%). If the stratum corneum is disturbed, the systemic absorption may increase (by a factor of 100).

    Indications:

    As a therapeutic and prophylactic for various infections, for antiseptic treatment and disinfection.

    0.05% and 0.2% solutions: prevention of infections (no later than 2 hours after sexual intercourse), sexually transmitted (chlamydia, ureaplasmosis, trichomoniasis, gonorrhea, syphilis, genital herpes); antiseptic treatment of skin (scrapes, cracks). Purulent wounds, infected burns, bacterial and fungal diseases of the skin and mucous membranes, incl. in dentistry (gingivitis, stomatitis, aphthae, periodontitis, alveolitis), in surgery, urology, obstetrics-gynecology. Postoperative care of patients in the departments of otolaryngology (ENT) and dentistry (rinse solution). 0.2% solution: treatment and sanitation of genital tract in gynecology; disinfection of removable dentures.

    0.5% solution: treatment of wounds and burns, infected scuffs and skin cracks, open mucous membranes.Slow sterilization of medical instruments, by soaking; disinfection of working surfaces of devices (including thermometers) and equipment, the thermal processing of which is undesirable.

    1 % solution: disinfection of thermometers, working surfaces of medical equipment and devices whose heat treatment is undesirable, treatment of the surgical field and hands of the surgeon before the operation, disinfection of the skin.

    Dosing and Administration:

    0.05% and 0.2% solutions:

    - for the prevention of sexually transmitted diseases, the drug is effective if it is applied no later than 2 hours after sexual intercourse. The contents of the vial with the help of a nozzle to enter the urethra for men (2-3 ml),women (1-2 ml) and in the vagina (5-10 ml) for 2-3 minutes.     - in urology, the complex treatment of urethritis and urethroprostatitis is carried out by injecting into the urethra 2-3 ml of the drug 1-2 times a day, the course - 10 days, the procedure is prescribed every other day.

    0.05% solution: for topical use in dentistry (gingivitis, stomatitis, aphthae, periodontitis, alveolitis), with postoperative care of patients in the ENT departments. Assign in the form of rinses 2-3 times a day. Pre-clean the teeth and interdental spaces, rinse the mouth with water until the toothpaste is completely removed, then rinse with 15 ml of the drug for 30 seconds. The solution should not be swallowed, after rinsing it is necessary to refrain from eating for 2-3 hours. If gingivitis is prescribed in the morning and in the evening.

    0,05 %, 0,2 % and 0,5 % solutions: apply in the form of irrigation, rinses and appliques. 5-10 ml of the solution is applied to the affected surface of the skin or mucous membranes with an exposure of 1-3 minutes 2-3 times per day (on a tampon or by irrigation).

    0.2% solution:

    - treatment and sanitation of the genital tract in gynecology in the conduct of medical and diagnostic procedures.Carried out for 2-3 minutes, using a tampon moistened with a drug or irrigation 5-10 ml of the drug.

    - for disinfection of removable dentures. Prostheses are placed in a container with the drug for 15 minutes 1 time per day.

    0.5% solution:

    - slow sterilization of medical instruments, by soaking them in the preparation (with full immersion), for 30 minutes.

    - for antiseptic treatment of wounds, incl. postoperative and burn, infected scuffs and skin cracks. The wound and the skin around the wound are treated for 2-3 minutes, if necessary, apply a napkin impregnated with the drug and fix it.

    1% solution:

    - for disinfection of hands. At least 5 ml of the drug is evenly rubbed on the surface of the hands before drying (at least 2 minutes). Before each subsequent treatment with the drug, it is necessary to wash hands under running water and wipe with a towel. Hand treatment is conducted no more than 6 times a day. After the end of work, it is recommended to wash your hands with soap and water and apply a lubricant.

    - for disinfection of thermometers, working surfaces of medical equipment and devices. Exercise for 2-3 minutes, using a clean sponge moistened with the drug.

    - for the disinfection of the skin and for the treatment of the operating field. Carried out for 5 minutes, using a tampon moistened with the drug.

    Side effects:

    Allergic reactions (skin rash), dry skin, itching, dermatitis, stickiness of the skin of the hands (within 3-5 minutes), photosensitivity.

    Overdose:

    No cases of chlorhexidine overdose have been reported.

    Treatment: in case of accidental ingestion it is practically not absorbed (it is necessary to do gastric lavage.For binding the drug in the gastrointestinal tract it is recommended to use milk, raw egg, gelatin). If necessary, symptomatic therapy is performed.

    Interaction:

    Chlorhexidine is used in a neutral environment; at pH 5.0-8.0, the difference in activity is small; at a pH of more than 8.0 a precipitate is precipitated. The use of hard water reduces bactericidal properties.

    It is pharmaceutically incompatible with soap, alkalis and other anionic compounds (carnolose, colloids, gums).

    Compatible with drugs containing a cationic group (benzalkonium chloride, cetrimonium bromide).

    Ethanol enhances the effectiveness of the drug.

    Special instructions:

    In patients with open craniocerebral trauma, spinal cord injuries, perforation of the tympanic membrane, when treating open wounds, the drug should be avoided on the surface of the brain, the meninges, and into the cavity of the inner ear.
