Indications:

For large extracellular fluid loss or lack of its receipt (toxic dyspepsia, cholera, diarrhea, "uncontrollable" vomiting, extensive burns with severe exudation et al.) With hyponatremia and hypochloremia dehydration, ileus, intoxication.

Contraindications:

Hypernatremia; acidosis; hyperchloremia; hypokalemia; extracellular hyperhydration, circulatory disorders, cerebral edema threatening and lungs, brain edema, pulmonary edema, acute left ventricular failure; concomitant administration of glucocorticosteroids in large doses.
