    Pharmacodynamics:

    Acyclovir is active against Herpes simplex 1 and 2 types, virus Varicella zoster, the Epstein-Barr virus and cytomegalovirus. Thymidine kinase virus-infected cells through a series of consecutive reactions actively converts acyclovir in mono-, di- and triphosphate of acyclovir. The latter interacts with the viral DNA polymerase and is embedded in DNA, which is synthesized for new viruses. Thus, "defective" viral DNA is formed, which leads to suppression of replication of new generations of viruses.

    Pharmacokinetics:

    When applying the ointment on intact skin, the absorption is minimal; acyclovir and its metabolites are not determined in blood and urine. With the affected skin, moderate absorption, in patients with normal renal function, the concentration in the serum is up to 0.28 μg / ml, in patients with chronic renal insufficiency up to 0.78 μg / ml.

    Indications:

    Skin infections caused by the virus Herpes simplex 1 and 2 types, including herpes lips, local treatment of cutaneous mucous manifestations (not life-threatening) of shingles in immunocompromised individuals.

    Contraindications:

    Hypersensitivity to acyclovir and other components of the drug.

    Carefully:With caution, persons under 18 years of age.Efficacy and safety of use in children is not established.
    Pregnancy and lactation:

    Adequate and controlled clinical trials have not been conducted to ensure safe use of the drug during pregnancy and lactation. The application is shown only when the intended benefit to the mother exceeds the potential risk to the fetus or the baby.

    Dosing and Administration:

    Outwardly. Ointment is recommended to be applied 6 times a day (approximately every 3 hours) in a thin layer on the affected and adjacent areas of the skin.

    Duration of treatment is not less than 5 days. In the absence of healing, treatment can be continued up to 10 days. If the symptoms persist for more than 10 days or if the symptoms worsen significantly, you should consult your doctor.

    Side effects:

    Possible short-term redness, itching, flaking, burning or tingling in the areas of application. In very rare cases, the development of allergic dermatitis, more often associated with the reaction to auxiliary substances.

    Postmarketing experience: swelling and / or pain at the site of application, rash.

    Overdose:

    If you randomly take the drug inside, the following symptoms are possible: headache, neurological disorders, shortness of breath, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, impaired renal function, lethargy, convulsions, coma.

    Treatment: maintenance of vital functions, hemodialysis.

    Interaction:

    With external application, no interaction with other drugs has been identified.

    Special instructions:

    To achieve maximum therapeutic effect, it is necessary to start using the drug already at the first signs of the disease (burning, itching, tingling, sensation of tension and redness).
