    S.01.A.D   Antiviral drugs

    Pharmacodynamics:

Acyclovir is active against Herpes simplex 1 and 2 types, virus Varicella zoster, the Epstein-Barr virus and cytomegaloviruses. Thymidine kinase infected cells through a series of consecutive reactions actively converts acyclovir in mono-, di- and triphosphate of acyclovir. The latter interacts with the viral DNA polymerase and is embedded in DNA, which is synthesized for new viruses. Thus, "defective" viral DNA is formed, which leads to suppression of replication of new generations of viruses.

Pharmacokinetics:Acyclovir is absorbed through the epithelium when applied locally. The degree of absorption is an average of 9.38 ± 1.64% of the applied dose. Binding to blood plasma proteins averages 15.4 ± 4.4%. The main metabolite of acyclovir is 9-carboxymethoxymethylguanine. Acyclovir more than 95% is excreted through the kidneys unchanged for 24 hours after application of the drug.
Indications:Infections of the skin and mucous membranes caused by the virus Herpes simplex types 1 and 2 - herpes of the lips, genital herpes, shingles.
    Contraindications:
